Apocalypse, Wow! - GOP Hypes World War III

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein
If you want to feel like you are entering the "Twilight Zone" just tune your TV to the Republican propaganda channel, Fox Faux News. Day and night their cadre of Republican sycophants spew the vile GOP talking points and promote a dangerous radical foreign agenda.

Of course it doesn't stop there, disgraced former Republican House of Representatives Majority Leader Newt Gingrich - not to be confused with the other disgraced former Republican House of Representatives Majority Leader Tom DeLay - has been on a campaign of fear all over the media in a desperate attempt to save the precarious Republican majority in Congress. According to Newt, WWIII has begun in the Middle East, and he loves it.
There is a political element to his talk of World War III. Gingrich said that public opinion can change "the minute you use the language" of World War III. - The Seattle Times
While this macabre obsession with widening the war in the Middle-East may have an effect on public opinion, it will likely only solidify the growing strength of the Democrats. Anyone who lived though the Cold War remembers the term "World War III" as another way of referring to nuclear Apocalypse.

Does Newt really think a majority of Americans want a massive war that would result in the death of millions for questionable political gain? Are the Republicans willing to drag America into another war to hold on to the control of Congress?
Gingrich said he is "very worried" about Republicans facing fall elections and says the party must have the "nerve" to nationalize the elections... - The Seattle Times
Newt should be very worried about the Republican's majority, the Democrats are poised to gain seats around the country, especially in NY. It is truly sad that Republicans are so desperate that they are willing to sacrifice the lives of millions to keep their strangle-hold on our government.

I may be putting too much trust in the American public, but I feel that the people won't fall for this any longer. We have been slowly waking from the nightmare of Republican spin we have fallen under since 9/11 and the Iraq War propaganda campaign. We are sick of the Bush Doctrine of permanent war as we watch it fail around the globe.

Right now Iraq is in a state of complete anarchy and Afghanistan continues to worsen, yet Israel is using the Bush Doctrine to attack Lebanon - and perhaps even Iran eventually. All with the tacit approval of Bush and his Republican cronies in Congress.

There are similarities between this course of events and a previous World War - but not in the way Republicans are frantically trying to frame it.
The killing of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire produced widespread shock across Europe and there was initially much sympathy for the Austrian position. The Government in Vienna saw this as an opportunity to settle the perceived threat from Serbia once and for all. After ascertaining that they could count on support from Imperial Germany, Austria-Hungary blamed the government of Serbia for the assassination and issued a harsh set of demands, which was known as the July Ultimatum. Austria-Hungary insisted that Serbia had to accept all of the conditions which included provisions that would have impacted on Serbian sovereignty. Caught between the external threat and their own extremist groups the Serbian Government accepted all the demands made except that Austrian investigators be permitted to undertake enquiries into the assassination on Serbian soil. Austria-Hungary then declared war on July 28, 1914. The system of interlocking alliances and treaties then in force led the great powers of Europe into World War I after a month of diplomatic maneuvering. - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Replace the assassination of Austria-Hungary's Arch-Duke by the Serbian terrorists with the kidnapping and murders of Israeli soldiers by the Lebanese terrorists and you arrive in a very disturbing scenario. Newt and other Republicans like him want to cast the United States in the role of Imperial Germany.

The Republicans in the federal Government salivate at the idea of the US being pulled into the conflict, and they rub their hands in cold anticipation of sacrificing our brave soldiers to a world war based on cultish Neo-Conservative philosophy.

The Democrats want to protect Americans at home and lead the world by telling the truth to our troops, our citizens, and our allies.

"You know, people say the Republicans are tough on defense. How can you be tough on defense if five years after 9/11, Osama bin Laden is still at large, the Iranians are about to get nuclear weapons, North Korea's quadrupled their nuclear weapons stash..."
"“We've lost the high moral high ground everywhere in the world. We want to be respected around the world again."
"We want our moral authority to be restored, because part of defending America is not just well-armed troops; it's having the high moral ground."”
"If you think what's going on in the Middle East today would be going on if the Democrats were in control, it wouldn't, because we would have worked day after day after day to make sure we didn't get where we are today. We would have had the moral authority that Bill Clinton had when he brought together the Northern Irish and the IRA, when he brought together the Israelis and the Palestinians."” - DNC Chairman Howard Dean at DemocracyFest 2006
The choice we face as a nation could not be more clear this November 7, 2006.

A friend suggested I contact you. You may want to know about the largest restaurant worker justice project in NY history.

Over 100 of us are working to encourage our former/current employer FIREMAN HOSPITALITY GROUP to stop illegal activity. This includes claims of racial discrimination, sexual harassment, withholding owed overtime pay to immigrant workers and management stealing tips daily.

Two federal lawsuits have been filed. Two law firms are working pro-bono. The NY Times, Village Voice, Fox News 5 and Channel 9 NYC are covering the story.

Anyone can make a difference in one minute by adding their name to “People pledged to stand for justice”. Anyone can be counted. We are collecting 2000. It means a lot to the campaign.
